Kisawayi Primary Schools
Kisawayi Primary School is located in Bumula Sub County of Bungoma County of Kenya. The public primary school was established in 1975 and currently has an enrollment of 920 pupils. Prior to 2022, the school had a shortage of toilets The available toilets in the school were dilapidated and were posing a health risk to the school community.

ECC supported Kisawayi Primary School with two modern latrine blocks; One block for boys with 6 doors and a urinal, and another block for girls with 6 doors and a washing room. This project has improved the standards of hygiene in the school. The toilets have tiled floors; the roofs have gutters to collect rain water as well.

Infrastructure Improvements
Construction of a Toilet Block
Another problem students are facing at school is having limited toilet blocks and the students need to queue up to use the bathrooms. They end up spending a lot of time outside the classroom to use the toilet. With the new toilet blocks Every Child Counts constructed, there are sinks outside the toilets so the students are able to wash hands after getting out of the toilet. The availability of sinks for hand washing, sufficient toilets, and the elimination of congestion, particularly for the girls will have positive impact on their learning.
